I am a woman definitely on the other side of middle age, but full of zest for life. I have two "kids"--my son, a Junior in college, a fabulous rock drummer who is majoring in psychology, and my daughter, a Junior in High School, already showing immense talent as a novelist. I am definitely religious, but not in a traditional sense. I love hanging out with teenagers, and have been known to swear right along with them. No one seems to mind, not even my Jack Russell Terrier who just smiles and wags her tail. I have a deep and abiding interest in all mental health issues, have done a lot of research in the field, given talks about "Giving a New Name to the Story," and want to learn more. I love making food for people, listening to music in the car, and sitting in our sunroom meditating. I've had a long and rather complicated life (see my memoir called "Learning to Swim" and "Hard Hit," both YA books published by Scholastic), but am blessed with a funny and cool husband and a wonderful family. I live 1200 feet up on a ridge in Western Massachusetts, with hawks sailing by, bobcats by the garden, bears on our deck, and geese sailing overhead. How great is that???
